Nevermore 3
Rated 4 / 5 stars March 27, 2009
Would be perfect..
I agree that sound and artwork are superb and that the atmosphere is great.
I also liked how "dying" (falling from heights you would normally expect to be deadly) is actually rewarded with new locations/masks.
Nevertheless there are some issues with controls. You should either assign <UP> as the jump button (or better use AWD) so you can play with one hand on the keyboard and one on the mouse, or let the player control the dialogues with the keyboard. I didn't like the idea of how you have to move the mouse and put this distracting mouse arrow on the flash just for the sake of clicking OK, which could be also done pressing <SPACE> or <ENTER>.
But my biggest problem was a simple bug, which turned out fatal since there is no option to restart the current level. When I was on the roof of grandpa's house and jumped to the right, I fell through the ceiling and got stuck behind the armchair. The end.
But since I liked the game very much I replayed and finished it.
I'd like to give it a 10, but the steering issues and the fatal bug reduce my verdict to 8. Very good game though and if you're lucky, you won't face the bug.

uhm..
Finishing this game is as fun as eating a tree; in theory it's possible, but nobody will attempt it because on the one hand there is lots of other food around, on the other takes too long and is definitely neither funny nor entertaining.
Next time, try to submit a game with a bit more.. sense.

Great game
BUG REPORTS:
- HENCHMAN DIES -> CAN'T EMPLOY NEW ONE - this happend to me, when the mexican guy died. He was marked dead in the "defense-menu", but appeared as living on the "hiring-menu". Suprisingly, after I reloaded the game and continued, his job wasn't vacant, the guy was breathing again.
- I can recall another henchman beating up my base (as though an enemy was hiding behind it). Is this normal, ..because he has been to long outside the base? I think not.
As far as that. Considering the game as a whole, I think it's not necessary for me to emphasize its superiority. Good job.

Genius as ever
Well, I'd give 11/10 if I could, but unfortunately the capacities of newgrounds are limited in this respect :D
I like that you started to employ more and more instruments, take the guitar at the beginnning as an example.
I don't know why, but every time I hear "drum 'n bass" I immediately think of your music - it is THAT characteristic.
I normally disapprove of such reviews like this one under me, but now I agree. So much wonderful music at once almost causes my brain to xplode. BAM.
But well, you see the score. I've never seen a 9.9/10 before.
Congratulations and Happy New Year to everyone!
p.s.: I don't consider headphones necessary if you are lucky to posess some creative speakers :3 but turn on da bass !

Great
What a coinidence ! I'm collecting some music to put on my mp3 player right now for the 12 minutes run i have to absolve tomorrow - and to make it short, i am certainly taking this song with me !
perfect length (short) and a powerful boost.

Ey Thank you Painjester! ^_^ I'm glad to be on your mp3 player!

yay :3
starting with my only concern, the beginning:
acid mixed with some kind of carribean drums ? well not my style :/
but since 0:21 and especially 0:45 again, i was like "BAM !" and " :3 "
then what remains to say ? typical, i'll call it zero-bassical song structure;
slight beginng - powerful advance - faint continuation - build up - BAM ! - fading out with "some echoing words" :D. don't understand me wrong, thats what i call close to perfection and not monotony
furthermore you recently seem to be bound to "rave-piano berserking" around. not bad, particularly for explosive build-ups. not so clearly used here like in your last song, but no need since the atomic trigger stuff is reemployed (sounds so at least)
that's it man.
again, continue composing and i await your track in the top 5
until next time (hopefully :D) !
Thank you Painjester!!

Poor quality
I agree with super-sense. I mean the animation doesn't have to be perfect, but there are some requirements..
Considering the mexican joke - I just felt to put it into context with the AUTHORS REVIEW from "Left 4 Speed"
"Did we REALLY need the racist cariciture of Louis and the KFC joke? It was damn funny but come on dude, I think newgrounds has enough racist stuff mixed in the usual submissions to put the KKK and neo-nazi's to shame."
Shame on you. The difference is, Chris O'Neill made fun of everyone, not only the Louis. You just threw the mexican "joke" in the air.
For the rest, I'm pretty much of the same opinion as super-sense.
When you base a flash on humor (because everything else is poor), you have to face the criticism.

Hehe
Tasty picture is good ;D
I like Cat Face, I just wonder why you take so long to make the episodes appear on newgrounds.
For everyone who likes the series, there are already 12 (!) episodes on the author's website.
Enjoy your Monday !

Nonsense? (May contain spoilers ;))
It is :D But it's great nonsense! Damn i have the feeling it'll make my day.
It's a hell of a surprise - first you see a cute-like scene, then the unexpected act of jumping; but as soon as you see the sabre coming out of the belly you just sit there stunned wating for what happens next xD
I would recommend this flash for breakfast or similar, for the jazz music (hope I'm right) creates a chill-out ambience and since the movie's
smoothly-animated it's also a feast for the eyes.
I sincerely can't imagine how you made this plot up, but I appreciate it.
It is more fun to watch than most movies with "hardcore logic" xD
Ultimately, creativity rocks.
One hint: I liked the ending very much, and how you employed the music (that it loops at the end), though rather than the turtoise-outro I'd prefer a continuation of the black&white slideshow with credits (adding music credits, "thanks for watching" and similar with further images), showing not only the turtoise, but also some other "animalic" homes plus fading the music out, because in the end the cut was too abrupt. I loved the b&w style image with the flying dragon (dinosaur?) and found it a pity it didn't go further.
But that wouldn't influence my over-all impression. You deserved your 5, and now the NG community will expect more offspring :D
